The model Lara Stone
I’ve never dreamed of becoming a model. As a child I was bullied and insulted as ugly. But then, when I was 13, my agent in a model of the Paris Metro has responded. The modeling was my job – and I began to dream of what could be possible.

When I was the first time for a job in New York, I saw Natalia Vodianova on an oversized billboard in Times Square on a Calvin Klein billboard. She radiated a great power and looked so sexy. I wanted too! Meanwhile, this dream has come true: now you see me on exactly this oversized billboard.

When you realize that just a dream has become reality, it feels as if you were back in a dream. It is a very rare and wonderful feeling.

LARA STONE
27, arrived in the Dutch Geldrup to the world. When she was 16, she was taken by the Paris Elite Models Agency under contract. Today, they – like Kate Moss, Heidi Klum and Gisele Bündchen – represented by IMG Models. She currently represents Calvin Klein, in particular the new Calvin Klein underwear series Naked Glamour. Since 2010 Lara Stone is married to British comedian David Walliams.

My biggest nightmare is to fly. Sometimes I’m thinking about doing a pilot’s license. It would help me to overcome my paranoia when I know what goes on in a cockpit in front of him, what tasks the many knobs and levers have and what display monitors.

And I have loved as a child, flights, especially if they were wobbly. Only years later I revised my opinion. I was 16 years old and had a small propeller plane flying from Paris to Eindhoven. Suddenly there was severe turbulence during flight. Everything was out of control. The machine was full of business men, their heads stuck in the ceiling. Everyone was in panic. Even the stewardesses screamed with fear. I sat in the middle and did not want to die. I realized that my life depends on two people in the cockpit, which all have in their hands. At that moment, my inner control freak came to the fore, with whom I have to fight to this day: I would like to decide things. I would therefore prefer to never fly again. But it’s part of my job. I try to meditate in my anxiety to get to grips. Most recently, I sometimes knit or just try to sleep.

I HAVE A DREAM

All previous dreams for future reference
In my dreams I can remember as good as ever. So I do not know if I dream at all. It must be fascinating, intense and controlled dreaming to like being in a movie. I would then be someone else every night, brave and courageous and not as shy as in reality. If I’m not home, I could dream of those that I miss and love you. After a hard day’s work I would relax on the beach.

I have a dream: that in my job, everything goes a bit faster. Five minutes hair, make-up five minutes, ten minutes and ready for a good picture. That would make life much easier.
